Mary (and Bob) were faithful members of Huntsburg Baptist church for over 60 years where she served as Sixth Grade Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, and a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. Mary cherished her time with her family. She enjoyed having them over for dinner on Sundays, birthdays, and holidays! She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and often babysat them. She often attended their sporting events, school events, piano recitals, and church events - she was their loudest cheerleader! Mary enjoyed playing games, doing puzzles, and looking at pictures and reminiscing about the past! She faithfully sent birthday cards with lots of pictures to her children and grandchildren. She encouraged them to stay close to Jesus and let them know she was praying for them! Mary was an avid reader. She loved reading her Bible and other Christian books and magazines! She was a big Indians/Guardians fan! She and Bob had season tickets to many home games! She and Bob traveled extensively to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and many states out west. Her favorite trips were to the Outer Banks with her kids & grandkids! She wrote recently that her greatest joy lay in the warmth of family and friends gathered together around her! Mary was friendly and kind and quickly became friends with everyone she met! She was loved by so many and will be missed by so many! Mary often said (especially as her disease progressed) that she was ready to go home to heaven to be with Jesus! Her life was marked by her commitment to serving Jesus, loving her family, and by moments of joy and laughter with those she held dear. She will be remembered fondly by all those who had the privilege of knowing her! Her greatest desire was that all her family and friends would join her in heaven some day!
A private burial for family is scheduled for February 24th at Slitor Cemetery and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 at Huntsburg Baptist Church with a luncheon to follow.
